Stagfell
Jewel of Navelle
If Navelle is a kingdom woven from roots and shadows, then Stagfell is its crown. The capital city of the Fae of the Wood, Stagfell rises where ancient oaks and stone meet, a testament to the balance between civilization and the wild. Surrounding it is The Wild, a sprawling wilderness full of danger and insanity. Its branches weave into the vaulted ceilings, dripping with silverleaf lanterns that never go dark.
The City of Shifters
Stagfell is famous for its shifter clans, families who pass down their gifts or combine them with other kingdoms. Foxes are the most common, and the most revered, due to their cunning, grace, and deep ties to the Navellian crest. But the city is also home to wolves, hawks, and even rarer forms like stags and lynxes. One can walk the markets of Stagfell and never be certain whether the eyes watching them belong to Fae in skin or fur.
Markets and Merriment
The Mesmery, Honeybreeze, and Timber & Tales are the most famous attractions. Shops brim with enchanted wares: cloaks that hum with wind, bottles that trap birdsong, and tables crafted by He Who Sanded Twice. Food is no less magical: applewine that glows faintly in moonlight, roasted pheasant dusted with shimmering spice, and honey pastries said to dull the bite of heartbreak.
Fun Fact: The market never fully closes. Even in the dead of night, you’ll find shadow-merchants bartering in whispers, selling charms and secrets rather than goods.
City of Thieves
Beneath the grandeur of Stagfell lies a darker truth: the city is home to the Ghostwalkers, Velysia’s most feared and respected thieves’ guild. Cloaked in shadow and rumor, their blade-mark sigil appears across alley walls and shuttered doors, a silent reminder that no coin purse or secret is ever truly safe.
The Ghostwalkers operate by using their shifting abilities to work efficiently. Their code is simple: steal from the corrupt and the powerful, and funnel wealth back to those forgotten by the crown. To some, they are criminals. To others, folk-heroes. In truth, they are both, an invisible kingdom within a kingdom.
The guild’s influence is so entrenched that even Valoria cannot stamp them out completely. Whispers claim she tolerates their existence, so long as they do not steal directly from her coffers. Others insist she uses them when her own hands cannot be seen. Whatever the truth, the Ghostwalkers thrive in Stagfell.
